Psalm 119: 105-112
October 29, 2o22
Nun
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I have sworn an oath and confirmed it, to keep your righteous rules. I am severely afflicted; give me life, O Lord, according to your word! Accept my freewill offerings of praise, O Lord, and teach me your rules. I hold my life in my hand continually, but I do not forget your law. The wicked have laid a snare for me, but I do not stray from your precepts. Your testimonies are my heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart. I incline my heart to perform your statutes
forever, to the end.
Dear Father in heaven, thank you for giving me a lamp and not a spotlight, for the lamp requires me to depend on you for each step. Father, I have not to my knowledge sworn an oath, but that is the desire of my heart to keep your righteous rules. I cannot think of anything better than to have a spirit of obedience to You and your word. For in John's gospel, You have introduced Jesus as the Word.
This journey is full of danger, the enemies of my soul have set many traps, and some have caught me in their snares, teach me Your word. As I age and I need You more than in my youth, give me an understanding of Your precepts, so that I do not stray from them. Father, both Jan and I want to finish this life with our hearts inclined to perform Your statutes, open our eyes to Your precepts, with a willing heart to obey.
From the Back Porch,
Bob Rice
