Master servant relationship

Psalm 119:121-128

Ayin

I have done what is just and right; do not leave me to my oppressors. Give your servant a pledge of good; let not the insolent oppress me.  My eyes long for your salvation and for the fulfillment of your righteous promise.  Deal with your servant according to your steadfast love, and teach me your statutes.   I am your servant; give me understanding, that I may know your testimonies!  It is time for the Lord to act,  for your law has been broken.  Therefore I love your commandments above gold, above fine gold.   Therefore I consider all your precepts to be right; I hate every false way.

One hurdle for all who have become followers of Jesus is where Jesus fits in your life.  For many, He is the go-to in an emergency but is that going to get one very far in their relationship with the Lord?  It is only when one comes to grip that Jesus is the Master and we are His servants, that will we walk in victory.  Jesus has this to say on the subject of our place in this relationship; “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.  Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.  Let's skip one verse and go to 4-5, Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

As we explore John 15 and look at Jesus' words, it should be very clear that He is the master, and we are blessed to be His servants.

It is obvious the Psalmist knew his role was servant, why have we who have so much information on the Scriptures not come to grips with Jesus is the Master and we are the servants?  Can you understand the honor of serving the King of Kings and Lord of Lords?

Therefore, I love your commandments above gold, above fine gold.   Therefore, I consider all your precepts to be right; I hate every false way.  I wonder how many who go by the title of Christian, put God’s promises, and commandments above their saving and the stuff they value?

Can you say you hate every false way, if so it will affect how you vote, what you watch on TV the movies you go to,   Your values and the time you spend in prayer, and the Scriptures?  I have been confronted by my pastor's sermons that my time in prayer needs help, and it is a conviction that I’m asking the Master to guide and teach me.
