My Help Comes from the Lord
A Song of Ascents.
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.
As I read Psalms 121, I was in total agreement with the Song of Ascents, my help comes from the Lord. From where does my help come? What a great question to be asked at 2:00 a.m. I gave you my answer, what is your answer? Many who go by the title of Christian if honest, would have to answer, that I’m self-sufficient, others might say it is the great career I have, or I depend on the government to be my protector or the military. But the Psalmist had no misgiving of the source of his help;? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
My career of 41 years in sales taught me to ask why would you run to anyone or place anyone above your Creator? We have a problem, and it can only have two sources, ignorance or unbelief? Do you believe God is in total control, over those who make Him their hiding place, who look to the Father for life? He has given us free will, and even in our poor choices, the Lord desires to forgive and forget, but it will require one to humble themselves, and seek the Lord.
It might be wise to read John 3:17-18, “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” Jesus coming as your messiah was not about condemnation, no it was about love and grace shown to you. As you read Matthew 6:26, “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” The answer is obvious, God did not send His only Son to die for a bird, nor any animals, but for you whom He breathed life into and gave a soul.
Please understand God the maker of heaven and earth loves you, the Bible is a Love Letter on living life on planet Earth.
