Blessed Is Everyone Who Fears the Lord

A Song of Ascents.

Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways!
You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands;  you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.  Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table.

Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord.  The Lord bless you from Zion!  May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem
all the days of your life!   May you see your children's children!
Peace be upon Israel!

Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways!  After reading that one has to wonder, why would a people who were blessed in so many ways not have a healthy fear of God?  And once more it comes down to they must be ignorant of how much God loves them. Or they are fools, in that it is recorded in Psalm 14:1, The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”  They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good.”  Jesus tells us they are of their father the devil, in John 8:44.  You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

But what about you are you one of the blessed, have you bowed your will to God’s only Son, have you received Him as your Creator and Redeemer?  If so how are you doing in this darkness?  Are you being a light to those who want the freedom we have in Christ, peace, and contentment?  We find in Philippians 3:8, What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ”  My prayer this morning is that you and I grasp the fullness of that verse, and abide in the Lord.  For in Him, we find the peace, the joy to see the blessing that comes from a healthy fear of the Lord.
