False Prophets Condemned

Ezekiel 13:1-7

The word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel, who are prophesying, and say to those who prophesy from their own hearts: ‘Hear the word of the Lord!’ Thus says the Lord God, Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!  Your prophets have been like jackals among ruins, O Israel.  You have not gone up into the breaches, or built up a wall for the house of Israel, that it might stand in battle in the day of the Lord.  They have seen false visions and lying divinations. They say, ‘Declares the Lord,’ when the Lord has not sent them, and yet they expect him to fulfill their word.  Have you not seen a false vision and uttered a lying divination, whenever you have said, ‘Declares the Lord,’ although I have not spoken?”

Is this a one-time occurrence?   Is it something that is happening in our day?  No, it was not just in Ezekiel's day, and yes, it is happening today, and it may be taking place where you worship.  Anytime a pastor or teacher tells you this Scripture does not apply today; it is something you better examine.  We have so-called pastors who say they will only speak and teach on the positive issues of the Scripture, and not the warning against sin.  You cannot run fast enough from that teaching.  Jesus has told us that on the last day, and they started the day He was taken into heaven, to sit at the right hand of the Father.

Matthew 24:4-14, Jesus's disciples came and acted when these things happened, and let us pick up the account: And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray.  For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray.  And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.  For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.  All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.”

“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake.  And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another.  And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray.  And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.  But the one who endures to the end will be saved.  And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”

All that God told Ezekiel about the false Prophet, still applies today, so watch out and stay in the Scriptures so you will not be taken captive by such.
