The Coming of the Son of Man

Mark 13: 24-31

The Coming of the Son of Man

“But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.   And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.   And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.

Have you ever experienced darkness, now I’m not referring to sin, for we all have lived in and around that kind of darkness, no I’m talking about the absence of light?  When I was a child we visited Carlsbad Caverns and they turned off all the lights.  You did not move, they told us to see how close we could put our hand to our nose before we saw something, and we all touched our nose without seeing our hand.  If you have not experienced the absence of light you cannot understand the darkness.  When this happens you will have a better understanding of darkness, are you prepared for His coming?

When Jesus comes, we will see the Light of the World, John 8:12, Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  In 1 John 1:5, “This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”   Shall we end with this word from Jesus found in John 9:5, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”  What I find of interest is Jesus did not leave room to be called a great teacher for He is God or looney bird, but He could not be a great teacher unless it is the truth.

The Lesson of the Fig Tree

“From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near.   So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that he is near, at the very gates.   Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.   Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.”

My dear reader, darkness is coming It could be today, I do not know, but this I know the fig tree has put on its leaves, and Jesus coming is closer than you may understand.
