Mark 13: 14 -24
The Abomination of Desolation
“But when you see the abomination of desolation standing where he ought not to be (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let the one who is on the housetop not go down, nor enter his house, to take anything out, and let the one who is in the field not turn back to take his cloak. And alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! Pray that it may not happen in winter. For in those days there will be such tribulation as has not been from the beginning of the creation that God created until now, and never will be. And if the Lord had not cut short the days, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, whom he chose, he shortened the days. And then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect. But be on guard; I have told you all things beforehand. “But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.
I’m troubled by many things that are happening in our country at this time. Jesus has told us to love our enemies, and all we encounter are our neighbors, and I know that to be true, and last He told us once more to love one another. I believe there is a very large group of people very rich and powerful that want to overthrow our government and destroy our way of life. I also believe the facts prove it if you are willing to stop watching CNN and all the other talking heads on TV and examine how often the New York Times and most all the Newspapers have been wrong about so many things. Why not try exploring what others that you do not agree with are saying? For it seems clear that we are in a time of the beginning of a Civil War. My prayer is that it does not happen for it will be much more deadly than the Civil War of April 12, 1861 – April 9, 1865, where much of the South was destroyed and 618,222 men died in the Civil War, 360,222 from the North and 258,000 from the South.
In WW II, it is believed by historians like Victor Davis Hanson in his book “The Second World Wars, that in six years and one day of World War II (September 1, 1939-September 2, 1945) witnessed somewhere between fifty and eighty-five million deaths. Perhaps a figure of sixty to sixty-five million killed is the most likely guess.”
Listen to what Jesus is telling us; “For in those days there will be such tribulation as has not been from the beginning of the creation that God created until now, and never will be. And if the Lord had not cut short the days, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, whom he chose, he shortened the days.” You nor I cannot imagine 618,222 men dying in a battle with fellow citizens, Jesus is telling us you have no understanding of what sin has brought about!
