Your Name, O Lord, Endures Forever

The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of human hands.  They have mouths, but do not speak; they have eyes, but do not see; they have ears, but do not hear, nor is there any breath in their mouths.  Those who make them become like them, so do all who trust in them.  O house of Israel, bless the Lord!  O house of Aaron, bless the Lord!  O house of Levi, bless the Lord!  You who fear the Lord, bless the Lord!  Blessed be the Lord from Zion, he who dwells in Jerusalem!  Praise the Lord!

I did a search on Idols on my computer I came across this quote; “What is an Idol? The Bible understands that idolatry extends beyond the worship of images and false gods. It is a matter of the heart, associated with pride, self-centeredness, greed, gluttony ( Php 3:19 ), and love for possessions ( Matt 6:24 )”

Philippians 3:19, “Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.”  And Matthew 6:24, “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”

My personal belief in the darkness of this age; which we are living in, is an ignorance of who God is and that His ways are higher than ours, and His thoughts are much higher than ours.  Scriptures tell us the fool says there is no God in His heart, but they know better.  Romans chapter one tells us they are without excuse for God has made Himself clear to all.  If you have a desire for truth, read Romans 1:18-32.

Our society has rejected God’s authority over them, but when you reject God, that does not change the desire to have that hole in your soul filled with something.  So a person sets out to find a god that they understand, one that has rules they like, it seems the Scriptures tell us this is going to happen, and we are wittiness of it taking place in our culture.  The apostle Paul is talking to a young man named Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:3-5. “For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, and fulfill your ministry.
