Titus 1: 10 – 16
For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers, and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party. They must be silenced since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach. One of the Cretans, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” This testimony is true. Therefore, rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, not devoting themselves to Jewish myths and the commands of people who turn away from the truth. To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.
Living in a time of insubordinate people, but where does the blame lay, we might begin with parents, who have not trained their children in righteousness. Many go to church but have not been instructed by the pastors and teachers on training up a child. We have disobedient, rebellious children, who have become parents and we now are reaping what we sowed.
It all begins and ends with the man, he is called by God to lead his family, and he has dropped the ball, in that other things like work and fishing or golf have been allowed to take up the time need in obeying God in this area.
But what is an empty talker we know what a deceiver is it is a person acting like a devil. Because the Scriptures tell us the devil is a liar and deceiver, that is his nature. Could a preacher that does not tell you the truth of Scripture be an empty talker and a deceiver? I am blessed that my pastor Ray Still teaches the Scriptures.
If you are attending a church where you have an empty talker, leave. For this reason, To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.
