Do you listen when God speaks-Do you do what He says?

Haggai 2:20-23

Zerubbabel Chosen as a Signet

The word of the Lord came a second time to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month,  “Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I am about to shake the heavens and the earth and to overthrow the throne of kingdoms. I am about to destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations and overthrow the chariots and their riders. And the horses and their riders shall go down, every one by the sword of his brother.  On that day, declares the Lord of hosts, I will take you, O Zerubbabel my servant, the son of Shealtiel, declares the Lord, and make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the Lord of hosts.”

When God speaks do you believe Him, and the answer from most church-going people is yes, but that’s not true, for if you believe Him you would do as He has instructed.  When God's man Haggai spoke to Zerubbabel, he had little power, not much of a military.  Here is the kicker that many of us do not get, God knew that Zerubbabel had few that believed in him as a leader, that he had few resources, a small number of men in his army, but it was God that was going into battle with Zerubbabel.

All that was required for Zerubbabel to be a great leader was to obey God totally and that is all that is required for God to use you and me.  God promises Zerubbabel that He would make him like My signet ring, for God had chosen him.  WOW, to be chosen by God, is that possible for one such as you and I?  You can bet eternity on it.  If you have by faith entered into Christ, through the redemption of His bloodshed on the Cross for the forgiveness of sin, then you have been Chosen.

Spiritual Blessings in Christ

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love, he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.  (Ephesians 1:3-6)
