This amazing place called Earth

Genesis 1:14-19

Excitement and expectation can be very good things to have in our lives, do you remember as a child talking about and hearing dad and mom discuss the vacation plans.  My first visit to my granddad’s, stick in my memory; a bus trip to Graham, Texas on my way to Murray and the farm.  What excitement, granddad picked up my mother; he called her “daught,”my brother Freddie, sister Doris, and me at the bus station in Graham.  I had never been to a farm, I had only seen my granddad at my aunts in Lake Worth, Texas and now we were going to spend a week with this tall, thin, gentleman with white hair who listened to us more than he talked.  The bus trip from Corpus Christi to Graham took what seemed to a six year old, a life-time and finally we are going to the farm, not a farm, were going to granddad’s farm, the place my mother has told us about since I was born.

Can you imagine the excitement and expectation in heaven, God has been creating stuff for three days, He has made light, and day and night, He has separated the waters from the waters and the expanse was called Heaven and the water under the heavens He called the dry land under the heavens earth, and He spoke and the earth sprouted vegetation, and that was the first three days.  I can only imagine the angels and the many other heavenly beings wondering, what is He going to do next, heaven is filled with excitement; what is God going to do on the fourth day of His creation?

On the fourth day; “And God said, ‘Let there be light in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.’  And it was so.  And God made the two great lights – the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night – and the stars.  And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness.  And God saw that it was good.  And there was evening, and there was morning, the fourth day.”

If you are an angel or one of the many other created beings in heaven, can you imagine the talk that is going on, who is this amazing place called earth being designed for, the angels must have wondered, what is our great God going to create tomorrow?
