Revive Us Again

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of the Sons of Korah.

Lord, you were favorable to your land; you restored the fortunes of Jacob.  You forgave the iniquity of your people; you covered all their sin. Selah

You withdrew all your wrath; you turned from your hot anger.  Restore us again, O God of our salvation, and put away your indignation toward us!  Will you be angry with us forever?  Will you prolong your anger to all generations?  Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?  Show us your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation.  Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints; but let them not turn back to folly.   Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.   Steadfast love and faithfulness meet; righteousness and peace kiss each other.   Faithfulness springs up from the ground, and righteousness looks down from the sky.  Yes, the Lord will give what is good, and our land will yield its increase. Righteousness will go before him and make his footsteps a way.

So, the Son of Korah acknowledged that they had broken faith in God and came back seeking forgiveness and He had restored them.  Aren’t we as a people today much the same, we seek forgiveness and God does so, then we receive His blessing, and the next thing we have gone after the little gods of this world.  That is what the people of Israel and Judah were repeating over and over.  This thought brings me to you and me, are we any different, we have been so blessed with freedom of speech and yet many of us only talk about Jesus at the building many wrongly call the Church.  Why have we kept this wonderful gift of Redemption of our sin quiet, are we selfish or fearful of men?  We sing a song about “Go tell it on the mountain”, what about your neighbor?

Could it be that we have more fear of rejection of men than the fear of a Holy God?  Maybe you have a friend who needs a kind word, a meal, or maybe someone to listen to where they, are at the moment.  Begin by showing them grace, for you have been set free from the control of sin by the love gift of Jesus Christ.
