Rescue the Weak and Needy
A Psalm of Asaph.
God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the god’s, he holds judgment; “How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah
Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” They have neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. I said, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; nevertheless, like men you shall die, and fall like any prince.” Arise, O God, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all the nations!
God the Father and God the Son our Lord and Redeemer have a give you and me a heart to be a blessing to the weak and needy, they are very close to the heart of God. And they should be a priority for His Church, that you and me who are in Christ.
When the Scripture calls them gods in Psalm 82:6, and Jesus uses the same terms in John 10:35, it seem as if He is referring to those who by faith have place their trust in Him alone. It is not referring to them being equal to God. One must remember that was Satan desire to have his throne equal to God but like us he was not the Creator, but the created. Many foolish angels were deceived by that old serpent, just as Eve was when he told her she could be like God.
