How Great Are Your Works
A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath.
It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night, to the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre. For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands, I sing for joy. How great are your works, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep! The stupid man knows; the fool cannot understand this: that though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever; but you, O Lord, are on high forever. For behold, your enemies, O Lord, for behold, your enemies shall perish; all evildoers shall be scattered. But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; you have poured over me fresh oil. My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants. The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God. They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, to declare that the Lord is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
It is good to give thanks to the Lord, my best friend and wife of 58 years find our self-giving praise with thanksgiving in our hearts for all our Lord has blessed us with. So many special friends, such a great family, a brother and sister that we love, and Jan’s family what a blessing they are to us. A house we made into a home, where we so enjoy sitting on the Back Porch, watching the birds and deer and other animals our Lord has made for us to enjoy. One thing we are so grateful for is being in a great nation that God has blessed us with so much, freedom to speak, travel, to worship, without the government trying to rule over us. If we ever lose that we will be like all the other nations, and it will take bloodshed to get the freedom, God has given us.
The Works of our Lord that have been poured out on the USA, and do we find time as a people to bow down and give Him praise? I’m fearful that the promotional Church that shows up on Sundays, is nowhere to be found during the week. I hope I’m wrong and yet I’m fearful that many of us do not understand our God is jealous of our chasing the foolishness of this world. Many go to movies where the Lord’s name is taken in vain and are not offended, many today put sports and send the message to their children that select ball is more important than worshiping God on Sundays. Our nation is a pagan nation, its leadership is evil, and they lie and steal. We often say do not send a good person to Washington D.C. you will just make a crook out of them. God has both men and ladies who have integrity and will put God and what they know to be true before power and wealth, that a person that is there as a calling.
The stupid man knows; the fool cannot understand this: that though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever; but you, O Lord, are on high forever. One day death comes to all people, and then the judgment, the ones who have sought Jesus Christ the everlasting God, by faith, He has given them, and they have put trust in His action on the cross for mankind and confess and ask for forgiveness, will not be in the judgment of the wicked. But the Scriptures are clear the evil and the wicked and all who try to get to heaven on their merit will be put in an eternal hell that was not designed for them but for the devil and his angels.
They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, to declare that the Lord is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
We have so much to be thankful for, for what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and spends eternity in hell? A place of darkness isolation, and eternal torment. The question one must ask what will you give in exchange for your soul?
From the Back Porch,
Bob Rice
