Ascribe to the Lord's Glory
A Psalm of David.
Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord's glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders,
the Lord, over many waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars: the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox. The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire. The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth and strips the forests bare and in his temple all cry, “Glory!” The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord sits enthroned as king forever. May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless] his people with peace!
Do you attribute or give the glory due to his name, do you worship the Lord, in the splendor of holiness? Now you might want to ponder on those questions before you answer. After giving thought to the question, my answer is no, and if I did so every moment of the day how can I? Now the following question: does God expect His family to do so? You can see by my question that I do not have the answer, but has God spoken on the subject?
In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.“ And what about Colossians 2:6-7, “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” And in Hebrews 12:28, “Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe,” God’s written Word has much to say about giving praise, and one last one from David found in Psalm 103:1-4, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,” I am so grateful for God’s grace, for if my hope was in Bob’s performance and not by faith and grace give to me by God. The finished work of Jesus Christ, I believe all mankind would have a severe problem. Yes, Scripture is clear: we need to Ascribe to the Lord's Glory.
Our Lord, Jesus Christ, the one John refers to in the gospel of John as the Word, is the same one who spoke the world and all that is created into being, check out, John 1:1-4, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men.”
