True Worship

Psalm 149

“Praise the Lord!  Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly!
Let Israel be glad in his Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King!   Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre!  For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation.   Let the godly exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds.  Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands, to execute vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples,  to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron, to execute on them the judgment written!  This is honor for all his godly ones.  Praise the Lord!”

I’ve often wondered, do we have any understanding of true worship?  Are we so concerned about how we come across to others that we miss worship?  Do we still have some of the freedom we saw in David as he entered Jerusalem with the ark of God?  Is worship abandonment of the thoughts of men and only caring about how God perceives us?

The Psalmist points out that the people of Israel not only should praise God for being their creator but also their King.  Do you understand as God’s chosen people they had God in those two roles, and the Psalmist went on to instruct them in how to praise their King and Creator.  In dancing for God takes pleasure in his people, but do not tell the Baptist.  One wonders if we will recall all the restrictions we placed on worship when we finely get it right in heaven?

At the young age of 77 it is important to understand what God adorns and it is the humble who gives them salvation.  For years humility was not in my life, I was proud, and arrogant, but God, I love those two words, but God has allowed me to understand, without Him I am nothing.

In verse six we see the term “double - edged sword” and in Hebrews 4:12, For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”  The same word is used also in the old Testament as mouths and also many teeth.

If we filter everything through the word of God, we will have a discerning spirit about us.
