Proverbs 21:2-3
“Every
way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart. To do righteousness
and justice is more acceptable to the Lord
than sacrifice.”
What a fantastic
time to be living in the last days, to witness so much of prophecy
fulfilled. Never has there been a time where seekers of truth should not
be exploring the Scriptures and looking for guidance. No one needs to
tell anyone who is a truth seeker that Satan has been allowed to have greater
control on people’s lives, and that the door has been open for a one-world
leader to step onto the scene as one with all the answers.
I’ve met a few men in the workplace that do not operate in this manner, “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes” but one must ask is that new? We find
this account back in Judges 17:6, “In
those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own
eyes.” And once
more in Judges 21:25, we see the verse repeated. “In those days there was no king in Israel.
Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” (Judges 21:25) They had God as their king, but
they ignored His authority and later with the many wicked kings over Israel
they were still just as ignorant in looking to the LORD for guidance. One
who seeks truth would be wise to ponder on these verses and Proverbs 14:12,
give more insight into the subject. “There is a way that
seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.”
I do not believe this verse
requires a shallow commitment; “To do righteousness and
justice is more acceptable to the Lord
than sacrifice.” Religions
goal is to “Do” for God, but all followers of Christ understand it’s all been
“Done,” and it only requires one to listen and obey the Holy Spirits
direction. I believe that is why Micah 6:6-8 was given to us. “With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself
before God on high? Shall I come before him with burnt
offerings, with calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands
of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my
firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my
soul?” He has told you, O man, what is
good; and what does the Lord require
of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly
with your God?
