Whose Son is the Christ?

Luke 20:41-44

In Psalm 110:1, we find a Psalm of David. “The LORD says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.”   Many a person and especially the Jewish people have not pondered on this question: Whose Son is the Christ?  In Luke 20:41-44, we have Jesus turning the questions to the scribes and Sadducees; But he said to them, “How can they say that the Christ is David's son? For David himself says in the Book of Psalms, “‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.”’ David thus calls him Lord, so how is he his son?”
Many a person wants to read the last chapter of a book to find out how things end so they will know if it is worth their time, so let’s begin at the end and work back to the beginning.  The last chapter of the “Book on Life” is the Revelation of John the apostle to the church, looking for the answer of “Whose Son is the Christ?”   Jesus is making an announcement and warning in Revelation 22:12-17, “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.  “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”  The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.” I bet you’re wondering how Jesus can be the Alpha and the Omega and also a descendant of David, am I correct?

If your still reading you must have some interest, so let’s go to the “Book of Beginnings” Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”  Now to the question of “Whose Son is the Christ?”   Look with me at Genesis 1:26-27, “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

Let us, it is clear that God is a Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and in the gospel of John we find more information on this question of “Whose Son is the Christ.”  “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”  (John 1:1-5 ESV)  If you keep reading you will find his name is Jesus and his Father is God the Father, and as foretold in Scripture He would come to earth being born of a virgin who was in the lineage of king David.
