A very different paper

Psalm 121

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?   My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.   He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.  The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.  The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Note: Yesterday as I got this paper edited so you could understand what was written, it disappeared.  I’ve searched for it, but it is gone, and today I’m again visiting Psalm 121, and it is a very different paper.

In that last year when I wrote this paper we had not experienced the Pandemic of Fear, so my eyes are seeing things very different.  Jan and I made choices to respect the law of men up to a point, and when it comes to neighbors, be the very best.  Do not live in fear, help others and encourage everyone.  Be respectful of those who have locked themselves in their home, fearful of dying.

At the beginning of this Pandemic, we went to the Scriptures, in that our trust does not lie in man, for all men are liars, and those are not my words but God’s.  Over and over we find in the Scriptures these two words, “Fear Not” example Isaiah 41:10.  Note: “I’m so sick of people saying our President is a liar, for God has stated all men are liars and Jesus is Truth.  Allow me to share a few areas that upset me, it also makes me angry when people who say they are Christ followers say bad things against our President, God placed him in that office.”  The Holy Spirit often confronted me on this subject when President Obama was in office.  In our search to understand we were reminded of Psalm 139:16, Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”  Many years ago, we came to an understanding that we could not even trust ourselves, much less look to men, so yes we believe God saw us before we were and that our time on planet earth has been numbered.  We also were reminded that this is not our home, 1Peter 2:11, “Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.”

I do want you to give thought to who you are putting trust in, the local paper, some doctor that claims to know all about the virus, your mayor, or just maybe yourself.  Let me be clear, I do not trust myself, I’ve made way too many mistakes and had to many bought lessons to do so.  Where does your help come from, the New York Times, Fox news, the Government, if so that’s an unreliable source, as the Psalmist states; My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
