Psalms 2:1-6
“Why do the nations conspire and the people's plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up, and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying, “Let us break their chains
and throw off their shackles.”
and throw off their shackles.”
The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, “I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.”
Now when God asks the question why, it is not like He is searching for the answer, as often you and I are when we address the why. No, our Father is all knowing and why is a rhetorical question, asked to produce an effect or to make a statement rather than to elicit information.
It is hard to understand how a ruler of a nation can be so stupid but then I recall Forest Gump’s mommy saying, “Stupid is as stupid does,” and that covers most world leaders, Hollywood, and the Congress of the United States.
A fearful place to find our self is in a nation with such foolish people and leaders who have brought about God’s wrath. I’m concerned, we the people of the USA, are in such a spot, and it is time for the followers of Christ to awaken and pray for God’s mercy and not the deserved judgment of our silent and prayer less lives.
Now it is time for the good news; God has established His King, the only Son of God, Jesus the Christ, the Messiah, the one the Jewish people are still waiting for. This time His coming will be very different, we find these words from the Father in Psalms 2:7-12. “I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”
Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. Kiss his son, or he will be angry, and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.”
