Jeremiah 43:8-13
Be very careful of anyone who comes across as if they understand all that is known about our Creator God. He changes not; Scripture tells us that God is One God and three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is all-powerful, ever-present, all knowing, sovereign, loving and holy. The Scripture tells us that our God is: Infinite, Eternal, Self-Sufficient, and Self-Existent. He is Creator, Savior, and Judge, and He is merciful, faithful, truthful, just, and you and I the Scripture refers to as a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow. Yes, our God is big and a man is a fool who believes they can put God in a box and understand all His ways.
The Lord tells Jeremiah to do the following, pick up large stones and bring them outside the opening of Pharaoh’s palace while the Judean men are watching him. He is instructed to place them in a mortar of the brick pavement leading to the castle and to give this message to the people of Judah. “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and I will set his throne above these stones that I have hidden, and he will spread his royal canopy over them. He shall come and strike the land of Egypt, giving over to the pestilence those who are doomed to the pestilence, to captivity those who are doomed to captivity, and to the sword those who are doomed to the sword. I shall kindle a fire in the temples of the gods of Egypt, and he shall burn them and carry them away captive. And he shall clean the land of Egypt as a shepherd cleans his cloak of vermin, and he shall go away from there in peace. He shall break the obelisks of Heliopolis, which is in the land of Egypt, and the temples of the gods of Egypt he shall burn with fire.”
The Scriptures are silent on what happened to Jeremiah and Baruch, that remains a mystery, but we do hear from Jeremiah once more in chapter 44.
