Jeremiah
8:14-17
If God is not your hope, who is? When
9-11 happened, and the world trade center towers came to the ground, people
came in mass to the churches, but why, was there an awaking or was it fear
related? Could it be that as a people we understand that our fortified
cities, our wealth, and military cannot protect people or a nation who looks to
being the god of their own life? We had one of the evilest of people, a
woman running for the office of President, and many who go by the name
Christian voted for her, with no regard for her strong voice on killing late
term babies. With no regards that she had no consideration for truth, and
that she had no fear of God or man, but this I know she will stand naked before
a Holy God and like the people of Jeremiah’s day will state the Lord has doomed
us to perish.
Have you, or are you asking this question at
this time of the life of our nation: Why do we sit
still? Why, will we not look to God and confess our sin of trying
to be lord of the ring, the captain of our ship do we have a desire to
perish? Why would a people or nation wait until this was our only option,
“Gather together; let us go into the fortified
cities and perish there, for the Lord
our God has doomed us to perish and has given us poisoned water to
drink, because we have sinned against the Lord.
We looked for peace, but no good came; for a time of healing, but behold,
terror.”
Now as you read verses 16-17, the armies
will come through Dan and yet it is not just the warriors on horses, it will
come by other means God has appointed.
“The snorting of their horses is
heard from Dan; at the sound of the neighing of their stallions the whole
land quakes. They come and devour the land, and all that fills
it, the city and those who dwell in it. For behold, I am sending
among you serpents, adders that cannot be charmed, and they shall bite
you,”
declares the Lord.
declares the Lord.
