Has God Change?

Jeremiah 9:10-16

What takes place in a person’s soul when the doctor proclaims; I’m so sorry to have to share this with you, but you only have a few days left on planet earth, and you need to get your affairs in order?  That is the message from God’s spokesman, Jeremiah to the nation of Judea.  It is not a word the doctor enjoys sharing, nor does it bring joy to our Father when He sends this to Judea, God's people, nor when He had Jonah go to Nineveh and preach against sinfulness.

If you were taught that the God of the Old Testament is different than the God of the New Testament, you have been sitting under a false teacher.  For in the Scripture it is very clear, God is the same today, as He was yesterday, He changes not.  God is Love and like human dads in this regard, He finds no pleasure in discipline but tells us in Proverbs 13:24, “Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him.”

As we look at verses 10-11, does that sound like a Father who is in mourning for His creations?   It was not the sins of the mountains or the pastures that brought this on, but an evil and sinful people who looked away from God and said we can get our needs met outside of God.  That did not work out very well for them, how is it working for you if that has been your approach?

God wants us to understand the end game of sin, our sins and our nations and leaders sins.  So learn from this and remember that grace and forgiveness are yours and mine if we will only confess our sins and repent, that means simply turning from them and following

Jesus.  Verses 12-16, “Who is the man so wise that he can understand this? To whom has the mouth of the Lord spoken, that he may declare it? Why is the land ruined and laid waste like a wilderness, so that no one passes through? And the Lord says: “Because they have forsaken my law that I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice or walked in accord with it, but have stubbornly followed their own hearts and have gone after the Baals, as their fathers taught them. Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will feed this people with bitter food, and give them poisonous water to drink. I will scatter them among the nations whom neither they nor their fathers have known, and I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them.”

It was not that they had not been warned in advance, for God had been very clear in this message as the children came out of Egypt, look at Deuteronomy 28:15-36.  They choose curses for blessing, and it looks like my dad was 100% correct in his saying, “that mankind learns nothing from history, they only repeat it.”
