Romans 2:6-11
Everyone has a semblance of a belief system and out of that
comes ones character or lack of, and ones values or lack of! In the culture of 2015 the belief system of
many in and out of the church has the appearance of me first, and a disregard
for authority. Has it always been like this? The answer is to some degree, for that is the
nature of a two year old. But with good
and loving parents who understand the role of parenting, understands they have been
given the child to train in righteousness, and to guide them into seeking a
relationship with Jesus Christ. The
following quote gives some light on the problem: “Our life stories are largely constructed and without mindfulness
can prove destructive.” (Rasheed Ogunlaru)
William James who lived from 1842-1910 made this statement; “The world we see
that seems so insane is the result of a belief system that is not working. To perceive the world differently, we must be
willing to change our belief system, let the past slip away, expand our sense
of now, and dissolve the fear in our Minds.”
He also said and I quote: “Tell him to live by yes and no — yes to
everything good, no to everything bad.” Great council to all parents, but remember the
apostle Paul is writing to the Church, and in these verses do not confuse doing
good to earning your Salvation.
Salvation is not earned, it only comes as a free gift and one receives
it by the faith God has given them. It
requires one to first realize they are a sinner and repent, and ask Jesus to
come and live in them. If you do not see
yourself as a sinner you are blind, for all have sinned, all have broken God’s
commandments.
Looking now
at verses 6-11, “He will
render to each one according to his works: to those
who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will
give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking
and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and
fury. There will be tribulation and distress for every
human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew
first and also the Greek. For God shows no partiality.”
Now I have some bad news for many in the church, you are not to seek your glory, or
your honor, that’s called the work of the flesh. These are words from Jesus; “But seek first the kingdom of
God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow,
for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.
Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Let me share some good news, as a Christian parent you can be a world changer by
parenting with love and understanding, you can form a belief system on God’s authority over all and live out the teaching
of Jesus in front of your children.
Begin today!
