Has truth stumbled in the Public Squares?

Isaiah 59:14-21

We who live in what we refer to as the present, have the ability to look back into what we refer to as the past, and learn from the history of Isaiah’s time, and there in lies the question, why are we repeating that history?  My goal is to cover all of the Scripture listed above, but we must begin with verses 14 and 15; “Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has stumbled in the public squares, and uprightness cannot enter. Truth is lacking, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. The LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice.”

Has truth stumbled in the public squares in the last twenty-five years in the United States of America; one of the greatest countries in this world?  Sure, when a leader is honored for being the best at lying, could anyone who is righteous say anything but truth has stumbled in the public squares?  I recall the press being all giddy over how well President Bill Clinton could put spin on a story.  Truth needs no spin, and a person of integrity tells the truth at all cost.  We are living in a time where both business and politicians are trained on how to spin their views.  They are trained to lie and how to lie well, so well that many begin to believe their own half-truths and omissions.  And the God who spoke to Isaiah is speaking to us today, He has not changed, no matter what others may say God is the same today, tomorrow, and forever.  And God said; “The LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice.”

The question must be asked, is God getting His fill of the USA?  Read verses 16-17 and come up with your own opinion, but do not stop reading for verses 18-19 state these words, “According to their deeds, so will he repay, wrath to his adversaries, repayment to his enemies; to the coastlands he will render repayment. So they shall fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun; for he will come like a rushing stream, which the wind of the LORD drives.”

The best of news, you will find this reported many places in the Old Testament, but Isaiah gave a great announcement of the coming of Jesus Christ in verse 20, “And a Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who turn from transgression,” declares the LORD.”  In this world of truth stumbled in the public squares, it matters not what country you live in, are you and the people you live with and around in need of a Redeemer?  What God states in verse 21 is still true, His word is unchangeable, listen to and understand that God has spoken; “And as for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the LORD: “My Spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your offspring, or out of the mouth of your children's offspring,” says the LORD, “from this time forth and forevermore.”
