What did Jesus say about Marriage?

Matthew 19:10-12

What an interesting question ask of Jesus by His disciples, in that many of them were married, but first, we need to go back to the question asked by the religious guys who were always trying to trap Jesus with their questions.  This was the question: “Is it lawful to divorce one’s wife for any cause?” If you read verses 4-9 you understand that the answer is “NO” that is with the exception of sexual immorality.  So with that said, we must look at the question ask of the disciples; “If such is the case of a man with his wife, it is better not to marry.” (Matthew 19:10b)

“But he said to them, “Not everyone can receive this saying, but only those to whom it is given. For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let the one who is able to receive this receive it.”  It seems clear to me that most of us were called to leave mother and father and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.  Maybe that’s some of the problem, we do not want to lose self in becoming one!  But let me testify to this fact, Jan and I have been married 48 years and some of those years were very hard, because Jan’s husband did not want to be one.  But with prayer and many a man coming along side of me and guiding me to the blessing of oneness, I can testify that it is a rich and wonderful life, becoming one with Jan.

With the divorce rate in the Church equal to and sometimes surpassing the ones who are not under the authority of Scripture, what has happen?  Could it be that many pay little attention to the authority of Scripture?  Could it be that many a person never engage in prayer and Scripture before making such a commitment before God and man, and that many a Christian do not take serious the covenant they enter into?  I was such a person, but I was not yet a Christian, though I was raised in the church and did understand that God hates divorce.   Looking back to a foolish young man who talked the talk, but was greatly influenced by the world’s system and had no understanding of Channel One, the deceptive channel, I can only say in praise, “But God,” yes, He rescued our marriage from the one who came to kill, steal, and destroy.
