Do you believe Jesus will do it for you?

Matthew 9:27-31

“Do you believe that I am able to do this?”

When I count my many blessings, high at the top of the list is not cars or house, nor is it money in the bank, no it is the people God has put into our life.  One such person is Anabel Gillham and she was used by God to open my eyes to many truths.  She was a storyteller and one story she loved to tell was about her son Wade, as a child he would bring her his broken toys and ask her to fix them.  But Wade, much like you and I, was not patient and would often grab at the toy before it was fixed.  Anabel would tell him he had to leave the toy with her so she could put it back into working order.  Then she said, I often do the same thing to God with my broken life, I bring it to him after it is in total disorder, and while He is putting the parts back in order I try to grab it from Him.

As I was reading Matthew’s account of the two blind men coming to Jesus asking for mercy, Anabel’s story of Wade came into my mind, and the question ask by Jesus; “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”  These men could not see, but they have listened, they have heard others tell of the healing of the blind, maybe they just heard about the little girl that was dead and is now alive, and so they come to Jesus with all to gain and nothing to lose.  Have you been or are you now at the point of having a need greater than your ability to fix it, is your life in total disarray, have you gone to Jesus with your needs?

When you come, He is going to ask that question: (“Do you believe that I am able to do this?”) and your answer may be yes, but the question is much deeper, do you believe Jesus will do it for you?  I believe Jesus could do it, He is God, He is Creator, He has no limits, but do I believe Jesus will do it for me?  The enemy, the thief that Jesus refers to in John 10:10, is going to speak to you at this moment, not about God’s ability to be God, but about your lack of earning the right to ask, and he may even question your right to ask Jesus for anything, but that is when you need to read the rest of John 10:10, where Jesus said; “I came that they (you) may have life and have it abundantly.” (Emphases added)  Never forget that Channel One is the deception channel, and that voice sounds just like your voice, but Channel Two is the still quiet voice of the Holy Spirit that is telling you that God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.

Now this was the reply by the two blind men, They said to him, “Yes, Lord.” Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.” And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, “See that no one knows about it.” But they went away and spread his fame through all that district.”

This writer has learned that his faith is often small, and this message from the letter of James has been of great help.  In James 1:6-8, “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”
