Can the Creator fear His own creation?

Genesis 11:1-9

My business life centered on sales, and I have become good at asking questions, and to ask questions that require more than a yes or no answer?  This morning while reading Genesis 11:1-9, these questions came into my mind; “How would life be different if we all cared for the same things, had the same goals?  “Why did God disapprove of the actions of the people in the story of the Tower of Babel?”

Now that is a question to ponder, “What would this world be like if we all cared for the same things and had the same goals?”  First, it would do away with politicians manipulating us by causing us to fight each other while they gain power and money.  Second it would stop all fighting and wars.  I’m sure you can come up with even more answers to this question, but lets move on to the next question.

The question that is of more importance is; “Why did God disapprove of the actions of the people in the story of the Tower of Babel?”  It might be helpful if we had the text of the account; “Now the whole earth had one language and the same words.  And as people migrated from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there.  And they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly.”  And they had brick for stone, and bitumen for mortar.  Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.”  And the Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do.  And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.  Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another’s speech.”  So the Lord dispersed them from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city.  Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth.  And from there the Lord dispersed them over the face of all the earth.”  (Genesis 11:1-9)

What is the answer to the question above?  Was God intimidated by man’s actions, can the Creator fear His own creation?  Those questions are almost too foolish to ask, but   came to mind so let me be quick to say No, and No to the questions above.  God has already shown mankind that He is God, that the Creator can do with His creation what ever pleases Him.  So what is the answer to the question, “Why did God disapprove of the actions of the people in the story of the Tower of Babel?”  I believe the answer can be found in Genesis 8:21-22, “And when the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma, the Lord said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth.  Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done.  While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”  So much for global warming!

Now back on message, man has a heart issue, we come with an evil heart, a heart that tells God, “I will be and I will live my life independent of You; I will not submit to You, I will do it my way.”  That is precisely what the people were saying in the above Scripture.  Some conclusions that might be reached about the first question we asked; an evil heart does not have the ability to seek the things of God, and a world absent of God and His Laws or rules for living life on planet earth, would always end in hostility and anarchy.
