A Jezebel awaits you and your Church

Revelation 2:18-29

To the Church in Thyatira, “I know you’re works, your love and faith and service and patient endurance, and that your latter works exceed the first.”  Now this is a great church, they got it all together, they are kingdom minded, and their latter works in services and faith exceed what was done in the past.  “But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.”  The name Jezebel has a bad connotation in that we think of the wife of Ahab the wicked queen, the murderess who incited her husband to evil, that is not the Jezebel the angel of the church in Thyatira is referring too, but a person of the same heart and actions.

This great church is closing its eyes to sins of this woman, who has set her self up as a prophetess and is teaching things that lead people into sin, sins that imprison and destroy not only the persons who are taken captive, but also bring shame on the name of Jesus Christ.  Our enemy Satan the evil one, the devil, has a Jezebel set aside for every church that holds to the teaching of Jesus Christ, and especially one that has a kingdom focus, and she may not be a she, it could be a Priest or Preacher, a deacon or a teacher.

The church of the living God should not tolerate evil in the body of Christ, and when we do it will bring the same judgment on that church as the church in Thyatira.  “But to the rest of you in Thyatira who do not hold this teaching, who have not learned what some call the deep things of Satan, to you I say, I do not lay on you any other burden.  Only hold fast what you have until I come.”  To those who hold fast the teaching of Jesus Christ will come a great reward at His soon coming, this is how the angel closed the letter; “He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
