Jesus Heals a Man Unable to Speak

Jesus Heals a Man Unable to Speak

As they were going away, behold, a demon-oppressed man who was mute was brought to him.  And when the demon had been cast out, the mute man spoke. And the crowds marveled, saying, “Never was anything like this seen in Israel.”  But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons by the prince of demons.”

My dad was a person who studied history, and he would tell his children that we must study history because mankind always repeats it.  A good example is World War I, titled "The War to End All Wars," a book on war written by H. G. Wells.  But if a person had studied both the Scriptures and history, as my dad did, they would have known that H.G. Wells had no clue about subject matter.  In Matthew 24:6-13, Jesus provides a vivid picture of what the world will look like in 2025.  “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.  Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.  All these are the beginning of birth pains.

“Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.  At that time, many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other,  and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.  Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,  but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

Yes, this is happening now; all you have to do is read the paper, watch the news, to understand, it is taking place in 2025.  I would have never believed people would rejoice when an evil man was murdered, much less a man like Charlie Kirk, who loves Jesus, who was 32 years old, a husband, dad of two young children.  He co-founded the conservative organization Turning Point USA in 2012 and was its executive director. He published a range of books and hosted The Charlie Kirk Show, a talk radio program.  And was killed by a demon-possessed person.  But like Jesus healing the man, Unable to speak, and the religious dude saying the following: “He casts out demons by the prince of demons.”  And they hated anyone who did not agree with their rules, and they also rejoiced at the death of Jesus.  Now, Charlie was a follower of Christ, and even a member of the Congress of the United States, who were rejoicing at his death, and people in the media, and also the many others like them who are demon-possessed or oppressed.

Maybe this is a good time for each of us who say we are Followers of Jesus to do as 2 Corinthians 13:5, instruct us:

“Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!”
