Psalm 109:16-31
September 16, 2022
For he did not remember to show kindness, but pursued the poor and needy and the brokenhearted, to put them to death. He loved to curse; let curses come upon him! He did not delight in blessing; may it be far from him! He clothed himself with cursing as his coat; may it soak into his body like water, like oil into his bones! May it be like a garment that he wraps around him, like a belt that he puts on every day! May this be the reward of my accusers from the Lord, of those who speak evil against my life!
Note: David the Warrior King, would not be accepted in our culture, no like President Trump, he was not polished, not politically correct. But He was God’s man, and we who claim to be followers of Christ, know that God put over us a President for blessing or curses.
One should never look for answers without first asking the Lord to give you the answer, in my case today I was reminded of, Mathew 7:12, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” We also found in Luke 6:27-31, these insights on how to live the Christ life. “But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.”
But you, O God my Lord, deal on my behalf for your name's sake; because your steadfast love is good, deliver me! For I am poor and needy, and my heart is stricken within me. I am gone like a shadow at evening; I am shaken off like a locust. My knees are weak through fasting; my body has become gaunt, with no fat. I am an object of scorn to my accusers; when they see me, they wag their heads.
As the Psalmist fasting and prayer, it seems as if the Lord has not seen or heard his cry for help but his enemies have and are mocking him.
Help me, O Lord my God! Save me according to your steadfast love! Let them know that this is your hand; you, O Lord, have done it! Let them curse, but you will bless! They arise and are put to shame, but your servant will be glad! May my accusers be clothed with dishonor; may they be wrapped in their own shame as in a cloak!
With my mouth I will give great thanks to the Lord; I will praise him in the midst of the throng. For he stands at the right hand of the needy one, to save him from those who condemn his soul to death.
When reading this last paragraph it becomes clear that David's help is in the Lord, he has a clear understanding of God’s love. David is praying that their curses become blessings. I have been also praying for my Nations that those who seek to follow their father the devil, the chief of liars, will come to an understanding of Truth, for Jesus is Truth. But if they will not and only God knows a person's heart, they would be exposed, and punished for the evil they are doing.
