Joshua 16
God is a promise keeper, He was then, and He does not change, many a person believes they have all the answers, but that a person who has little understanding of God’s written Word. Isaiah 55:8-9, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, ”declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
You do not have a box God will fit into, nor a building, but He does inhabit the praise of His people, and we have this promise from Jesus, in John 17:22-23, “The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.”
If God is for you, who can stand against you? That is what the people of the 12 tribes had come to understand, and this is an account of Joseph’s and Ephraim’s inheritance, as promised by God. The promise was made to Abram, who became Abraham. Genesis 12:1-3, Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go forth from your country, And from your relatives. And from your father’s house. To the land which I will show you; And I will make you a great nation, And I will bless you, And make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing; And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you, all the families of the earth will be blessed.”
But a recurring thing happens, and I believe it is happening today in many who go by the name Christian. They did not do as God had told them, Joshua 16:10, “However, they did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer, so the Canaanites have lived in the midst of Ephraim to this day but have been made to do forced labor.”
I was not able to sleep for a pain in my leg, so I got out of bed and allow God’s written word to speak into my mind and heart, I need to examine myself to see if I’m not guilty of allowing the cares of this world, to deceive me into believing, answer lie anywhere but in the Word of God. Always wise to do as 2 Corinthians 16:5 states. “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?”
