Who Do You Say Jesus Is?

Mark 8:22-30

Jesus Heals a Blind Man at Bethsaida

And they came to Bethsaida. And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him.  And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, “Do you see anything?”   And he looked up and said, “I see people, but they look like trees, walking.”   Then Jesus[c] laid his hands on his eyes again, and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.   And he sent him to his home, saying, “Do not even enter the village.”

Why did Jesus lead the blind man out of the village, and why did Jesus tell the blind man not to go into the village after he was healed?  As long as we are asking questions why did it require Jesus to touch the man’s eyes twice, and the answer is; we were not told,

For some reason, God's Holy Spirit did not give us any answer to these questions.

Peter Confesses Jesus as the Christ

And Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the way, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?”   And they told him, “John the Baptist; and others say Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.”   And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Christ.”    And he strictly charged them to tell no one about him.”

Those are questions that Jesus is asking of each person still to this day, have you bought into what people are saying about Jesus, or do you have any thoughts on the questions.
C.S. Lewis had this to say;
 'I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that ... to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept his claim to be God. ... You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call Him Lord and God, but ... He did not intend to.”.  On the subject also Lewis, “A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell.”

On the day Jesus asks that question, Peter replied, “You are the Christ.”   How did you answer the question being asked? “Human history is the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy.” C.S. Lewis quote
