Proverbs 26:13-16
“The
sluggard says, “There is a lion in the road! There is a lion in the
streets!” As a door turns on its hinges, so does a
sluggard on his bed. The sluggard buries his hand in the
dish; it wears him out to bring it back to his mouth. The
sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who can answer sensibly.”
Sluggard, not a
name used often in our culture, and one must wonder why not? We now have a
larger population of them, not so just 20 years ago. They range in age
from early teens to the retired; I would say that covers a lot of people, we
even have them in all professions. So what is a sluggard? It is a person that is lazy, not wanting to
work, and often in this society believes others owe them what they have not
worked for, nor will they work.
Yes, they come up
with any excuse to not work, as Solomon states, even a rumor that a lion is in
the road. Some of their best times are in bed while others are working,
laying on the couch or comfortable chair watching T.V. or playing a video
game. They are so lazy that if given a choice to bring their clothes to a
washer for someone like his mother to wash or just wearing them dirty, they
will choose dirty.
Now if you do not
believe they are wiser than anyone around ask them, and they have the answer about
how to do most anything, they are the same one that likes socialism, thank the
Lord most are too lazy to get off the couch and vote.

Porch,
