The Wise Lady & the Foolish Woman

Proverbs 14:1

“Every wise woman builds her house but a foolish one tears it down with her own hands.”

This writer would prefer to allow the Bible to show us what the foolish woman looks like and so shall we begin in the book of Job.  “Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die.” But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.”  (Job 2:9-10)

Listen to what the apostle Peter has to say to the wise woman in 1 Peter 3:1, “Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives,”
And in Ephesians 5:22, we have the apostle Paul giving a wise woman this advice; “Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.”   But today let’s explore Proverbs 12:4, states the following; “A capable wife is her husband’s crown, but a wife who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones.”
As stated in the beginning, I did not want my opinions but the Scriptures, yet in my search I ran across this young Ladies blog, http://confidentlycalled.com/shop/.  She is coming from a homemakers view and the Scripture, and I wanted to share some of the points she made.
How To Identify a Foolish Woman, and she will share great detail.  I am going to take a small part of each.  You should visit her site.  Let’s begin with her as a parent, “The foolish woman’s children are often neglected, left to theirself or some electronic device.  Rather than train the children, she barks orders from the couch or her computer chair. The children are irreverent and disobedient, careless and lazy with the entitlement attitude.”  Note from me, Jan and I worked with fourth graders at Church and we have never seen such rude and disobedient children, so I believe she nailed this one.
The home of a foolish woman; “Her home is in constant disarray and utter chaos.  Her yard is overgrown and unsightly.  There is strife between her four walls and tension when guests visit.”
The finances of a foolish woman; “The details of a foolish woman’s finances show bounced checks, late fees and overdraft charges more often than not.  She spends more than her husband earns and never saves a dime.  She never knows where her family stands financially.  She impulse buys and neglects any sort of planning.  She doesn’t understand the principal of buying in bulk or comparison-shopping.  She fails to purchase needed items ahead of time thereby spending more on seasonal items at the last minute.”
And she lists much more, but let’s end with the activities of the foolish woman; “She wasn’t taught the basics of running a home or raising children, and has no desire to learn so chooses to stay at her current level of incompetence.  Her tongue is full of gossip, backbiting, complaints and negativity.”
One thing is very clear to this writer, as a husband I want a wife who is my crown, and if you have met Jan, you understand that I married such a lady, my bride is a wise lady.
