I Corinthians 2:6-8
“Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”
Nowhere have I found that life is easy, a bowl of cherries, a chicken in every pot, and a Porsche in every driveway; in fact, it matters not whether you are a follower of Christ or not you should be in agreement with what He said on the subject of life: “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) Now if you are not a follower of Jesus you cannot grasp the peace He gives in a world full of fear and hate, but just know this; His greatest desire is for you to know Him, to experience trusting in the only One who has seen all your yesterdays, and also all your tomorrows.
When Paul refers to the mature, it is clear he is addressing followers of Christ, not followers of a religion or a denomination with Christian in its name. He is also not putting age as a factor in the mature, but an understanding that the prophet Isaiah shared with us; “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.”
This secret and hidden wisdom is often referred to in the Scriptures as a mystery found in Jesus Christ; “that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Jesus invading your earth suit, by your invitation, and change comes into your life, and peace comes where once only fear and distrust was present.
One must ask who would kill, Truth, Love, the giver of a life free from fear and hate? The same group that is doing it today, and it is clear they have no understanding of who Jesus is, or why He came. “None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”
