“No Fault Insurance”

Hosea 14:1-3

“Israel, return to Yahweh your God, for you have stumbled in your sin. Take words of repentance with you and return to the Lord.  Say to Him: “Forgive all our sin and accept what is good, so that we may repay You with praise from our lips. Assyria will not save us, we will not ride on horses, and we will no longer proclaim, ‘Our gods!’ to the work of our hands.  For the fatherless receives compassion in You.”

Have you heard the term “No Fault Insurance”?   It is a way of avoiding expensive litigation, and it is my opinion that many in and out of the church have such a view when it comes to sin.  No one wants to end up in court with God as the Judge, so as a culture we remove the word sin from our terminology, and that’s not just outside the church, but also inside many churches.

But removing the word from one's vocabulary is not a solution it is living in denial, for the Scriptures are clear that judgment will begin at the house of God.  It seems clear that Christians and non-believers will face the judge, but for followers of Christ it will be centered on; were you obedient as found in 1Corinthians 3:11-15, and for the believer in Christ it is not a judgment to determine salvation, which is by faith alone.  The judgment for the non-believer is found in Revelation 20:11-15, “Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”  The good news is God did not design hell for mankind, but for the devil and his angels, mankind has to make a choice to go there, and though we have dropped the word sin, it is not removed from the heart and mind of a person.  For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

It matters not your color, race, or title, those in and outside of the church are being given the same options as were the people in Hosea’s day, for the LORD has said in 2 Corinthians 6:2, For he says,
“In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
Today is your invitation to repent, listen to this sinner’s prayer in Hosea 6:1-3, “Come, let us return to the Lord; for he has torn us, that he may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up.  After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him.  Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”
