Isaiah 29:16
We
live at a time in history where the very foundation of our nation is being
shaken, a nation that was founded on faith in God, and for all people to be
free to worship and live in freedom.
Many who go by the name Christian have little or no understanding of our
nation’s history, and evil men and women are at this moment removing all
history of leaders like George Washington, who looked to God and His Son, our
Lord Jesus to guide and direct their thoughts and actions.
This is in no way a paper on our nation’s history, just a
snapshot to wet your appetite. In
CONGRESS, July 4, 1776, thirteen states came together and formed a union, and
out of that came “The unanimous Declaration of the
thirteen united States of America, When in the Course of human events, it
becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have
connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth,
the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God
entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they
should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
As a reader, my hope is that you’re asking what in the “Sam hill” does that have to do with
Isaiah 29:16, and I pray as you read, that the Spirit of God makes it become very clear. We,
like them, have turned things upside down, look at the family, look at those who are standing
for the life of a child, look at those who will give millions to save a fish, or dogs and cats, but
will not even speak a kind word to a child in need. That is an upside down world, where
preachers are fearful to speak against the sin of homosexuality, or of politicians who lie and
steal and enslave the poorest among us. Now listen to God speaking through the prophet
Isaiah, and pay attention to the question God ask: “You turn things upside down! Shall the
potter be regarded as the clay, that the thing made should say of its maker, “He did not make
me”; or the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding”? Folks, can
the clay tell God who made the clay and molded the pot that He has no understanding of the
world we live in? Have we the people given our God the declaration of our independence
from His authority? Many have, in fact 70% of people in the United States of America do not
attend any church, and what do they worship? May I advocate that we look to men who
believed God and walked with Him, like George Washington Carver; “As he made new
discoveries, he never became successful monetarily. But during his lifetime, he overcame
great rejection for being black. He was offered six-figure income opportunities from Henry Ford,
and he became friends with presidents of his day, yet he knew what God had called him to do.
His epitaph read: "He could have added fortune to fame, but caring for neither, he found happiness and honor in being helpful to the world." I the clay have set in my heart to bow my knee to the will of the Potter, and do what is said about George Washington Carver; he got up early in the morning each day to walk alone and pray. He asked God how he was to spend his day and what He wanted to teach him that day.
